Examples of Web Sites by Simon
Portfolio of Clients
Simon has designed web sites professionally, both working for himself (independent
sites) and for an IT consultancy, he has also
developed sites for friends and himself (personal
sites).
Simon is continually improving his design techniques, so please note the
date of the web site and bear in mind the majority of these sites are
commercially designed and financial constraints imposed by the customer
rather than other constraints may restrict the features, size and quality of
design.
For time comparison purposes Simon's daily rate (to the end customer) is
of the order of £50 per hour or £250 per day. Simon usually provides initial
consultation for free and provides a fixed price for the site once
requirements are agreed.

Bidding
Bidding with
TMC
Ltd for a £25,000 intranet web based risk management tool.
Project to include complete design lifecycle with extensive usability
analysis with leading edge web design to ensure the tool is cost
effective, widely used by the target users, easy to use by both beginners
and expert users with lots or no risk management knowledge.
Most web sites are based around tried and trusted layouts, where
effectively years of iteration have ensured a highly usable interface.
The complexity of this tool and the diverse abilities of the user group
mean that no standard interface is suitable and a completely new one will
need to be designed following usability principles and tested with several
methods of usability analysis. The site will be refined both before
and after it is placed in the workplace, so the technical aspects of the
design will ensure that it is easy to change from both usability and
information aspects. Simon's design technique of separating content,
navigation and look and feel and server side code should make this
iterative interface refinement easier and cheaper and ultimately produce a
more usable web based tool. For more on usability read any good HCI book
or see
Papers and Essays by Jakob Nielsen.
